The person facepalming emoji depicts a person with a hand raised to their face. The facepalm is a symbol of exasperation, embarrassment or frustration and has become a popular and widely used meme across the internet. On Apple iOS, the emoji is represented by a young man with his left hand raised to his face, and his skin tone and hair color can be modified. Other platforms show a woman in a similar pose, with either her right or left hand raised. The emoji can be used sarcastically, in humor or in seriousness and conveys the emotions of embarrassment or awkwardness, and of exasperation and annoyance in the face of someone else’s views.
